During his 30+ year legal career, William D. (Bill) Auman has represented defendants with charges ranging from murder (70+) to speeding citations.  He has handled over 200 appellate and post-conviction matters, and has over 250 bench and jury trials to his credit at both the District and Superior Court levels.  He has appeared in numerous state and federal courts throughout North Carolina, including the N.C. Court of Appeals and N.C. Supreme Court.  He also continues to practice before the U.S. 4th Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia.  In addition, he has over 25 years experience as an Adjunct Professor of Political Science at UNC-Asheville and Mars Hill University.

 

A former Amnesty International Legal Support Network National Representative, Bill served as Senior Assistant Public Defender for the 28th Judicial District from 1991-1999.  He recently received a distinguished service award from Martindale-Hubbell, and has been named to "Who's Who in American Law."
